Banking Documents Needed for International Travel
You’re planning for that long-awaited vacation. Your bags are packed, the passports are ready to go and you’ve just confirmed your flight. Are you forgetting something?
When getting ready for international travel, there’s one more thing you need to prepare for: How are you going to pay for your purchases? Did you notify your credit card companies and financial institution that you will be traveling out of the country? Did you think about what method of payment would get you the best currency exchange rates? These things are all just as important to plan as where you’re staying, or how you’re going to get there, and Florida Credit Union has some great advice for preparing your finances before a vacation!
It's important to notify FCU of where and when you will be traveling to assure you will be able to access your FCU accounts with no problems. Call us or complete the Notice of International Travel form at least 2 weeks prior to your trip. Also be sure to include all countries you will be visiting - including any countries where you may have a layover in case you need cash. It's important to protect your money while traveling, and with FCU's help, you'll be ready for whatever might happen.
Read our list of countries that are currently blocked automatically. These countries change regularly based on patterns of fraud. If the country(ies) you plan to visit are on this list, we can unblock them for you for the duration of your visit.
